Public profile David Wright
David leads the UK Safer Internet Centre (www.saferinternet.org.uk) for SWGfL alongside partners Childnet and Internet Watch Foundation. The UK Safer Internet Centre is co funded by the European Commission and forms part of the EC’s Safer Internet Programme, representing the UK alongside the other 31 national centres. David has worked extensively in the area of online safety for nearly ten years not only with children, professionals and parents but also with partner agencies such as the law enforcement, safeguarding Children Boards as well as other statutory and voluntary agencies. David has presented at online safety conferences both home and abroad, most recently representing the UK in presenting at the United Nation’s Internet Governance Forum in Kenya. He currently chairs the National Education Network Safeguarding Group in the UK and is an active founding member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety working with UK Government and the wider council stakeholders on child Internet Safety. Overseas, David is a member of the National Council for the NetSmartz Workshop in the US and works alongside partners IKeepSafe in the global Generation Safe initiative.
Closer to home, David, as a SWGfL esafety team member, works in classrooms and staffrooms and also leads on research projects with the University of Plymouth publishing on average 3 research papers, focusing on online safety issues and how they affect children and professionals, annually
