UNESCO is hosting the 2012 World Open Educational Resources (OER) Conference to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2002 UNESCO Global Forum that coined the term - OERs.
The 2012 Conference has 2 objectives: highlight the world's best practices in OER policies, initiatives, and experts; and issue the 2012 Paris OER Declaration calling on Governments to support the development and use of OERs.
Defined as educational materials in the public domain, or released with an open-license allowing free use, adaptation, and sharing, OERs provide a strategic opportunity to increase access to, and the quality of education.
