The seminar ‘Validation of Non-Formal and Informal Learning’ will take place on the 9th and 10th of April, 2013 in Mechelen, Belgium, and is open to 120 participants.
The event is hosted by the European Commission and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), in association with the Irish Presidency of the European Union.
European countries are increasingly recognising the need to acknowledge the types of learning that take place outside formal training institutions. There are still obstacles, however, to implementing policy objectives and practical solutions for validating the learning that happens in the workplace, at home, or in leisure activities.
This ‘Validation of Non-Formal and Informal Learning’ seminar will convene 120 participants interested in and involved with the challenges and solutions this topic presents.
Registration is currently open. For more information, please contact email@example.com
This paper looks at innovative ways to improve the development of 21st-century skills in students both individually and in groups, considering both formal and informal learning opportunities.
Organised into eight chapters, this report examines early childhood education, schooling, transitions beyond initial education, higher education, adult learning, outcomes and returns, equity, and innovation. The chapters are structured around key findings and policy directions emerging from recent OECD educational analyses. Each entry highlights the main message in a concise and accessible way, with a brief explanation and reference to the original OECD source.
Each year the Ministry of Children and Education organises an R&D conference in order to spread and utilize the experience and results of research and development projects and other development work in training.
Participants in the conference are institutions for training, production schools, technical committees, Metropolitan University College (NCE) research network and others.
Institutions bring proposals for concrete, completed or ongoing development projects and present them in workshops at the conference, which acts as mutual inspiration.
The Ireland International Conference on Education (IICE) will be held from 15th to 17th of April, 2013 in Dublin. The IICE is an international refereed conference dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practices in education. The IICE promotes collaborative excellence between academicians and professionals from Education.
The aim of IICE is to provide an opportunity for academicians and professionals from various educational fields with cross-disciplinary interests to bridge the knowledge gap, promote research esteem and the evolution of pedagogy. The IICE-2013 invites research papers that encompass conceptual analysis, design implementation and performance evaluation.

This paper proposes a conceptual framework that might be used as a point of departure for theoretical and empirical analyses of the role of (T)VET systems in order to provide the opportunity to identify the factors which contribute to social, economic, political and cultural change
In this framework several practices are encouraged such as: sharing key concepts in order to implement common modelling; the support of core processes to guarantee mobility; the development of a quality assurance approach to implement high training standards; creating network-oriented structures that facilitate knowledge sharing and assessment and validation processes.
The flexibility of this framework aims at improving employability and mobility of workers through a system where occupational competences, required by the labour market – and described in terms of Learning outcomes – can be assessed and validated in different contexts (formal, non formal and informal) and developed following quality standards.
