Hello all,
In my opinion, to break STEM gender stereotypes and introduce new social referents we can think on specific actions devoted to the general public, not only to students, because students are influenced very much by the sociocultural background. It is clear that for reinforcing girls' selfconfidence, we need to deal with all factors that could influence them as part of their sociocultural and socio-economic bacgroundbackground. Possible measures are:
· Work with mass media (TV, press, Internet, etc) to improve the women visibility in relation to current successful women in STEM.
· Support role model campaigns in schools and universities (e.g. posters which young women involved in STEM careers).
· Enhance STEM women prizes/contests in different industrial fields
