EQUNet is a 3 year project which brings together 8 leading European Stakeholder and Research organisations, with the aim of enhancing equity in Higher Education.
The project aims at increasing access to Higher Education for all marginalized and non-traditional groups based on a principle of equity. The best and worst practices will be highlighted in the project, together with the focus on understanding the barriers to entry to Higher Education, and the incorporation of stakeholders to help propose solutions. Based on this research, the project aims to give implementable recommendations as to how to improve accessibility to Higher Education.
The projects aims to increase access to European Higher Education for all groups, particularly groups from non-traditional forms of education, by:
- Identifying barriers to access to higher education for the project target groups
- Finding good/bad practice in enabling access to HE, or eliminating these barriers
- Promoting good practice widely to enhance implementation
- Testing the role an indicator on equity can have in this
- Extending the work done to a broader network of stakeholders and actors
The target groups, are extremely relevant to programme call, covering all areas of potential students to HE, i.e.:
- ‘traditional’ students (i.e. 18-22s)
- migrants
- continuing learners (professionals building upon a degree)
- adult learners (without a degree or changing profession)
- post-professionals’ i.e. those at the end of the LLL curve
