Get closer to reality: welcome to the market

What is innovation about? It is about real life implementation. Innovation can already been considered as such if it is taken into the real world. At this stage we need more innovation, large scales pilots implemented in practice, living labs from which we can learn and build upon.

Is the European Commission opposed to market-oriented projects? Do we believe more in markets or in reports? Is market a key issue for the future of education?

According to Mr Straub from Elig, the European Commission has a key role to play to unleash the capabilities we have and make them effective. Regions should play a key role in moving us to reality.

The question posed by Mr Straub and the role devoted to market are important issues. We know that education is a public good mostly seen as non-market. However technology is essentially a private good, market oriented. Ministries will adopt a protective attitude towards the market while the industry is convinced that market oriented actions are the only ones that can make change happen. Are we ready to create new basis for public and private partnership?
