About this portal

The elearningeuropa.info portal is a European Commission initiative which forms part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, managed by the Directorate-General for Education and Culture; Directorate A: Lifelong Learning: Horizontal Policy Issues and 2020 Strategy; Skills and Qualifications Unit. The site is managed and maintained by P.A.U. Education.

The European Commission initiated elearningeuropa.info in 2002, to support the transformation of education through technology. Today, with more than 35,000 registered users with an average of 16,000 monthly visits, it has become a key forum for exploring change and innovation in education.

elearningeuropa.info is home to an active and engaging community; scholars, educators, policy makers, students and other stakeholders use the portal  as a virtual meeting place, where they come together to share and discuss solutions for a diverse range of educational issues. The portal, and its user-generated content, offers a collaborative, critical and creative approach to looking at where education is today, and where it is headed tomorrow.

elearningeuropa.info is a dynamic platform built with the latest cutting edge, open-source technology, offering tools for communicating, sharing and discussing. The portal has been redesigned as a user-centered site that facilitates interaction and allows for a better flow of ideas among its members. Navigating the portal has also become more simple and intuitive, thanks to the incorporation of a new Content Management System (CMS) based on the award-winning ‘Drupal’ platform.

Structural improvements have reorganized and updated the portal. With a TV Channel, blogs, and user-created Communities, portal members have more possibilities for disseminating and sharing their ideas.

The portal’s directory promotes networking, offering a private messaging system and advanced profile management options. In addition, content and user activity within the platform is now managed. Users can now enjoy a selection of articles highlighted by the editorial team, and a new scoring program, called Kudos, that lets the community acknowledge the activity and reliability of registered members.

Please take the time to register and explore the many options the platform offers, and let us know of any improvements you would like to see. We look forward to welcoming you into the elearningeuropa.info community!
