Augmented Reality in Education

How can educators incorporate augmented reality into education? What projects are currently being employed? Come to Aumenta.me 2013, on 20 April 2013 in Valencia, Spain, to learn more!  

Aumenta.me comes back for its second edition with a conference will feature the educators, researchers, materials designers and companies who use augmented reality in everyday education. The event, sponsored by the non-profit Asociación Espiral, Educación y Tecnología and the public Institute for Human Centered Technologies Lab Human, will take place in Valencia, Spain.

Ireland International Conference on Education 2013

The Ireland International Conference on Education (IICE) is biannual conference that takes place in April and October. 2013's edition will kick off in Dublin, from 15-17 April. 

 

The so-called 'knowledge triangle' is key to Europen innovation policy and the focus of the Ireland International Conference on Education: a collaborative relationship between the fields of education, research, and innovation.

The ultimate aim is to connect research and practice, bridge the knowledge gap, promote research esteem and the evolution of pedagogy. Participants are invited to present papers that encompass conceptual analysis, design implementation and performance evaluation are welcome.

EU training course in Berlin in October: Video Production and Web 2.0

There are still places available for the training week in Berlin that will be taking place from the 21st to the 25th of October, 2013.

The course is based on a combination of video education and social media methods and is a hybrid outcome of these two EU projects: www.web20erc.eu and www.viducate.net. The aim is to explore creative approaches in the online and offline use of video within education.

 

You can apply at your National EU Agency for funding. The deadline for application is the 30th April 2013.

Submit your Article for "Problems of Management in the 21st Century" Journal

The international scientific journal "Problems of Management in the 21st Century" is now accepting submissions for articles. Papers should be original work, and substantively different from papers that have been previously published or under review in another publication. Applications are due 30 April 2013, and full papers should be sent in by 5 June 2013.

University on a Cloud

This book, recently published by the Laboratori de Mitjans Interactius (Interactive Media Lab), surveys university presence "in the cloud" and the extent to which different institutions incorporate online learning systems into higher education. The book collects research from two research groups on either side of the Atlantic - the University of Barcelona's Interactive Media Lab, in Spain, and the Federal University of Santa Catarina New Technology Lab (Communic), in Brazil.

6th International Workshop on Social and Personal Computing for Web-Supported Learning Communities (SPeL 2013)

The SPeL workshop focuses on social and personal computing for web-supported learning communities, especially regarding emergent technologies for applied computing in education. It provides a place to discuss research about the planning, development, application, and evaluation of intelligent e-learning systems, where people can learn together in a personalized way through social interaction with other learners. All accepted workshop papers will be published in the main conference proceedings, which will be indexed in IEEE Xplore and INSPEC. Lego Robotics Construction Set

Lifelong Kindergarten group and LEGO have created a lower-cost, easy-to-use robotics kit that can engage younger children in a wide range of creative activities, called the LEGO Education WeDo™ Robotics Construction Set.
The WeDo kit contains 150 elements including a motor, tilt sensor, motion sensor, LEGO bricks, gearing mechanisms, and easy-to-use software. It also includes a collection of sample projects—everything from an alligator that snaps its mouth shut when anything comes near (using the motion sensor), to an airplane that plays different sounds as you move it (using the tilt sensor). In addition, children can use the Media Lab’s free Scratch programming system to create stories that combine on-screen animations with WeDo constructions, allowing them to integrate virtual and physical worlds and share their stories with other children around the globe. The product is now in production and available through theLEGO Education Web site.
